What are we looking for?

We are looking for a few things:

• Members - people who are interested in the idea of cohousing in the west.

• Contacts - in our world we know a lot of the time it’s who you know not what you know, so we are keen to introduce ourselves to anyone who might be interested in this sort of development in the west be they property owners, developers, social housing providers, ethical/sustainable material suppliers, financial or legal experts, researchers etc

• Land - finding land that is suitable for cohousing is often challenging and often cohousing projects are unable to compete or raw price based platforms based on the speculative prices for multiple small units that are sold without consideration of the social capital that is built by the community process making the cohousing option very compelling long term. Land is the most difficult things for us to find, so if you hear of a larger block that might be coming onto the market, let us know, we would love to speak to the owner and put our case forward.

• Finance - this comes from members, investors, govt grants and similar funding or even philanthropists, we can make a solid case for each so if you know someone, let them know.

• People’s Time and Energy - as with all group projects, do do this right it takes people contributing time and energy to get things done. The more members that can contribute the easier it gets for everyone and the more rewarding it gets for those involved. We respect and acknowledge that different people are in different situations and that they have different resources to contribute. We appreciate and need any little bit of help that we can get!
